Let’s face it - if you’re here, you probably found me on social media, or maybe even a TikTok Live! We have so many great chats in the community about all things yarn-related but it goes FAST and it’s hard to answer everyone’s questions fully! So here it is, one spot with all the links you might want or need.

Of course, some of these are affiliate links that mean I get a small commission if you purchase them, at no additional cost to you. Where possible, I’ve included information about how much things cost when I purchased them for reference. You can read my full privacy disclosure statement here.

  • Links to where I get my fibres I personally use in my handspun creations.

    Chaotic Fibres
    www.chaoticfibres.com (referral link)
This is where I get my dyed combed top (corriedale wool, merino wool), silk and angelina fibres I use in my LIVEs for blending. I purchase from here constantly. Kairee is passionate about spinning and very helpful. Based in BC, Canada - ground shipping to me in Ontario takes ~5 business days.

    Cheery Little Sheep
    Etsy Shop Link (affiliate link)
Based in Europe, I’ve used their sales to get larger batches of merino combed top that spins up beautifully. I’ve also purchased samples of colours so I know exactly what to expect. Because it’s international to me, I did have to pay duties and taxes that I think is important to factor in when purchasing.

  • Tools I use for spinning and fibre prep.

    Blending Board
Carding Cloth and Accessories (affiliate link)
For my board, I purchased the carding cloth, dowels and packing brushes from Etsy (GF Carders) and then DIY’ed the board itself from wood. The cloth is 12”x12” and 108 TPI (teeth per inch).

    Hand Carders
    Carding Cloths (affiliate link)
I purchased the carding cloth for my hand carders from Etsy (GF Carders) and then DIY’ed the hand cards from wood. The carding cloth is 7.5”x4” and 72 TPI (teeth per inch).

    e-Spinner Spinning Wheel
My electric spinning wheel is an Ashford Professional Electronic Spinner that I purchased used in late 2022 for $400. These models were manufactured between 1992-2009. I absolutely adore it and use it daily.
You may hear me talk about an e-spinner called the EEW6.0 from Dreaming Robots as a cost-effective e-spinner - I know many people who have one but I have never used it myself so please do your research and don’t take this as a recommendation for it!

    Traditional Spinning Wheel
In late May 2023 I purchased a used Canadian Production Wheel, which is an old (100-150 years old!) saxony-style wheel in great condition. It was an absolute gem of a find on Facebook Marketplace for $85. I have not played around with it enough to recommend it but it’s a double-drive system with a massive wheel and very high whorl ratio… it’s speedy!

    Drop Spindles
I have 2 drop spindles that I use. My Turkish Drop Spindle (great for creating a centre-pull ball for plying) is 3D printed using this file from Thingiverse - I have one at 100% scale and one at 125% scale.
My Ashford Top Whorl Drop Spindle was purchased at Sweet Georgia Yarns but can be found in many places. I personally prefer to use a Turkish Drop Spindle for most of my manual spinning.
